treegreenCoconut Creek makes it possible to recycle items without sorting.   The process is called “single stream” and the following items are acceptable:



Newspapers, inserts, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, office paper, soft-covered books, file folders, soda cartons, and crushed boxes from items such as cereal, tissues, rice and pasta

Plastic containers such as bottles (without caps or lids) and milk, water, yogurt containers, detergent and shampoo containers (without caps or lids)

Glass food and beverage containers

Milk / juice cartons and drink boxes

Aluminum and steel food and beverage containers

Flattened Cardboard


Remember to:

Rinse all containers

Remove newspapers from plastic delivery bags

Remove straws

Make sure all recyclable material is free of any trace of food

Do not include containers used for bleach, oil, grease, household cleaners, medical waste, or microwave containers


X Rechargeable batteries

X Containers used for bleach, oil, grease, household cleaners, medical waste or microwave containers

X Plastic grocery bags  (bring them back to the supermarket for recycling)

X Light bulbs, mirrors, glass cookware or bakeware and ceramics

X Glass from home or car windows

X Paint and pesticides

X Electronic waste and accessories (i.e. computers)

X Medical waste and pharmaceuticals

X Household garbage and waste such as building debris, flammables, small appliances

X Pizza boxes with food scrapes

X Miscellaneous plastics (toys, cups, etc.)
